We are a new, purpose-built facility, situated at 109 Centaurus Road, in Huntsbury, Christchurch. We cater for thirty children, where our passion is to provide a warm, nurturing environment for children between two to five years of age. Buttercups Huntsbury Preschool is a family-owned and operated early childhood service located in a newly built, safe and secure, (fully monitored) facility in Huntsbury, Christchurch. Our Huntsbury facilities provide children with everything they need to prosper. An open plan, spacious main classroom with adjoining deck space for seamless indoor/outdoor flow. A large sandpit and natural environment with a simplistic design so that a variety of resources can be used. We value free play for the children, so our teachers ensure that the learning environment is inviting and encourages freedom of choice.
Looking for an alternative to Kindy? Buttercups Preschool Huntsbury is open throughout the school holidays and offers 20 hours FREE for 3-5 year olds, along with 30 hours for $30.00 for 3-5 year olds.
We are committed to offering where applicable the Ministry's of Education 20 hours of ECE funding subsidy . If your child is 3,4 or 5 the cost can be fully subsidised for up to 6 hours a day and up to 20 hours a week. To find out more please contact us
Sarah is Managing Director of Buttercups Preschool. She has completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) in 2007 and then went on to attain a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood Education) in 2009. Sarah is fully registered and experienced in teaching children under the age of five. As a busy mother of two children under the age of five, Sarah understands the need for the provision of quality childcare. Sarah has been working on the goal of providing an intimate setting for children to learn, where they are provided with ongoing opportunities within a nurturing, inclusive environment. She is enjoying seeing this vision come to fruition, at Buttercups Preschool.
Sophie has a BA degree in English and Classics and went on to complete a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood Education) at the University of Canterbury, graduating in 2007. Sophie is a fully registered, experienced early childhood teacher. Her philosophy is grounded on respectful relationships with children and their whānau. Sophie is passionate about music and brings this into her teaching. As a mother of three children, Sophie understands the importance of quality care and education.
Laura is originally from Kells, in the southwest of Ireland and has been living in NZ for just over 6 years now and loves calling it home! Laura has a Bachelor's in Montessori Education and a Diploma in Childcare & Education and have just started studying for her Graduate Diploma in ECE. Laura has been teaching ECE and Primary for 17 years. Sustainability within our environment is something very important to her and Laura has just completed a course in permaculture to add to her bank of knowledge. In her spare time she enjoys mountain biking, trail running, snowboarding, climbing, outdoor adventuring, and reading.
Sara is a qualified and registered teacher with over six years of experience teaching in the early childhood education sector. Sara has a passion for fostering authentic, reciprocal relationships with tamariki, whānau and fellow kaiako, with children being at the heart of everything. She strives to promote a love of fun and learning as a positive and enthusiastic role model for tamariki whilst also providing a calm, empowering presence. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, Rocky, and spending time with friends and family.
